CUVÉE GALA AT THE LONDON OLYMPICS: Only 155 Days Away

With only five months to go, London is making the necessary preparations to welcome people from all around the world, and Cuvée will be in the heart of the action. The Olympic trials are currently underway to find the best American athletes to compete in 26 different sporting competitions at this year's games.

The three main events we will be attending as a group will be the Men's and Women's Finals for Artistic Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Athletic Finals, and Men's Football Finals at Wembley Stadium. There are many notable athletes to watch on their journey to the highest level of achievement that many will achieve in their professional athletic careers.

Gymnastics
Jordyn Wieber prepares to take on the world at just 16 years old. Although she is not on the Olympic team yet, she is part of the team competing at the world championships in Tokyo. Only a high school junior, she is becoming one of the gymnasts to beat heading into the 2012 London Olympics. With a dream of going to compete at the games, Wieber's life could shift into overdrive shortly, and a perfect performance in Tokyo could win her a spot on the U.S.A. Gymnastics Team.

Track and Field
Reigning world champion, Jesse Williams, who brought Team USA back to prominence in the high jump will highlight the men's field events at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. In 2011, Williams won both the USA Indoor and USA Outdoor titles in the event. His personal best is currently third on the U.S. all-time list, and his jump of 2.37m was the best in the world last year.

Football
In order for the U.S. Soccer team to be at the forefront of the competition, they must first qualify. Olympic Qualifying begins on March 22, where Team U.S.A. was drawn to compete against Canada, Cuba and El Salvador. The semifinal and final matches will be played on March 31 and April 2 in Kansas City. Among players to watch is Clint Dempsey, who is over the age limit of 23 that the Olympic Committee has established. However, each team is allowed three exemptions for their final roster, and Dempsey is expected to be one of them. He is only the second U.S. player in history to score in multiple World Cups when he tallied the tying goal against England in 2010.

The Olympic Park, consisting of the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Center, Basketball Arena, Velodrome and more, has been a three-year building process, incorporating recycled materials from the greater London area. The Stadium can hold 80,000 fans and will host 208 events including the Athletics and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
